Fake Tan Injections are used in the process of fake tanning and involve putting a synthetic hormone called melanotan under your skin using injections.
Melanotan fake tan injections work as accelerators to tan the colour of the skin. They use a synthetic hormone called Melanotan which increases the level of the pigment, melanin in the skin. Melanin is the body’s natural response to the sun and by increasing the level s of melanin results in skin tanning.
There are two forms of fake tan injections available, Melanotan I and II, which need to be diluted with water before being injected.
This is unlike self tanners on the market that involve putting tanner on your skin which are composed using Dihydroxyaceton (DHA) as the base of the various formulations. The vibrant component in sunless tanning products, Dihydroxyaceton (DHA), does not work individually instead it works with the amino acids found in the skin.
With the mixture of bothDHA and amino acids a chemical reaction occurs which causes skin to bronze when applied to the skin. The main advantage of using the combination of DHA and amino acids is that it does not destroy or damage the skin.
Harms of Fake Tan Injections
There has been recent widespread coverage in newspapers regarding the dangers of injecting Melanotan, which
requires an injection of the synthetic hormone under the skin in order to stimulate the skin to tan.
The drug is sold both online and as counter products at both gyms and beauty salons. The fear is that because the drug is self-injected users may be putting themselves at risk of developing infections such as hepatitis or HIV.
Melanotan fake tan injections are also rumoured to cause asthamas and skin allergies as well as causing possible harm to the endocrine system of the body.
It all points to realistically staying away from fake tan injections and going along the safer route of sunless tanning using self tanners applied on your skin and not under your skin!
