Tips For Applying Self Tanning Lotion

When applying self tanning lotion you need to be patient throughout the process and will be rewarded with a streak free natural looking tan.

Try and exfoliate several days before applying the fake tan lotion, so that the tanner doesn’t have to work through dead layers of skin. This can be done by using a body scrub all over including areas that tend to be dry like elbows.

As well as exfoliating in the build up, it is important to moisturize every day by applying body lotion after every shower, as when it comes to tanning, the body needs to start at an even base. Many areas are much drier than other areas which will soak up the self tanner  which leads to patchycolouring. Moisture certainly helps even this out.

You must take your time applying tanning lotion. Start with one specific area of your body. Focus on this area and don’t rush and you will get better results. Your knees, ankles and elbows are usually first to show if you don’t apply self tanner correctly so it is worthwhile mixing half self tanner and half moisturizer for more even results.

Try and use latex gloves as self tanner stains and will be hard to scrub off bare hands.

An important tip is to avoid applying self tanner in the bathroom. Moisture and sweat in a steamy bathroom can cause self tanner to drip causing streaks. Hot skin straight after a shower will also have the same affect.

Once the fake tan has been applied, wait half an hour for it to dry before you get dresses as it may stain your clothes.
